Updated Apr 13, 20261 min read

In GST Pro, you can control how GST is applied to your products using the Taxing Options setting. This setting determines whether GST is applied to:

  • All products, or

  • Only products marked as taxable in Shopify

Where to Find This Setting

  1. Go to GST Pro in your Shopify admin

  2. Open Settings

  3. Click on Taxes

  4. Locate Taxing Options

Taxing Options Explained

1. Tax All Products

GST will be applied to every product, regardless of its taxable status in Shopify.

When to Use

  • You want GST applied uniformly across all products

  • You are not using Shopify’s “taxable” checkbox

Key Behavior

  • Ignores Shopify’s “Charge tax on this product” setting

  • Ensures GST is always applied

2. Tax Only “Taxable” Products

GST will be applied only to products marked as taxable in Shopify.

When to Use

  • You sell a mix of taxable and non-taxable products

  • You want control at the product level

Key Behavior

  • Respects Shopify’s “Charge tax on this product” checkbox

  • GST is applied only where explicitly enabled

Where to Set “Taxable” in Shopify

To control which products are taxable:

  1. Go to Products in Shopify admin

  2. Open any product

  3. Scroll to the Price section. Click on drop down arrow

  4. Enable or disable:

    • “Charge tax on this product”

Example Scenarios

Scenario 1: All Products Taxable

  • Setting: Tax All Products

  • Result: GST applied to every product

Scenario 2: Mixed Product Types

  • Setting: Tax Only Taxable Products

  • Example:

    • Physical goods → Taxable

    • Gift cards / exempt items → Non-taxable

Important Notes

  • Always verify your setup with a test order and invoice
